Split, Croatia via Munich, Germany

My astrologer friend, Phyllis Mitz, says the equinox is the beautiful opportunity to reset our lives. And autumn is my favorite month, always colorful in Colorado without the searing passion of summer or surprises of spring. It makes it hard to leave for another trip abroad, but this opportunity to go sailing on the coast of Croatia with some fun friends came up quite unexpectedly and we decided to jump at the chance, despite having been to Croatia earlier this year. We said we’d happily return, but didn’t expect it to be this soon. We left our home on a lovely fall day when the Denver Broncos were actually winning an away-game and they trounced the Buccaneers! Go figure! And a day after dear old CU pulled off a stupendous victory after an incredible last second Hail Mary throw and a crazy overtime end zone fumble recovery. We do love football even tho our favorite teams test our religion!

The DIA experience was just as chaotic as Folsom field after the game on Friday night. The new security checkpoint is more than confusing. We question the effectiveness of the terriorist foil, and having managed to emerge the TSA Pre screening, we stumbled along with the bewildered crowd searching for the holy grail of our departure gate. What a cluster!

Lufthansa rescued us from the madness at DIA and our flight to Munich and on to Split, Croatia was a testament to German cleanliness and efficiency. Meeting up with our friends Robin & Steve, Molly & Bill was a happy reunion. Split has a cool, charming old town and we got ready to meet up with our charter boat.

Hubby likes his Lufthansa socks — it’s the little things!

After a quenching rain fall the clouds parted and blue skies accentuated the crips autumn air.
