Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and home of the seat of government. A place of impressive architecture, manicured landscaping, modern infrastructure and overt riches and extravagance. From the new and modern infrastructure, striking white domed structures, immaculate and lavish interiors that feature crystal, marble, inlaid mosaics and golden fixtures, and portraits of the family of sheikhs who rule the country. We visited the Qasimi Al Watan, the presidential palace. A palace is not a residence but the opulent offices of the government. Islamic women are mostly not seen, unless totally clan in dark gowns and head coverings, while the men wear white robes and head scarves. The people who live here are not given citizenship. There is no unemployment, no graffiti, no crime, no taxes, and they are very tolerant, we were told.
We started our tour with a Golden Cappuccino — very auspicious beginning of our Abu Dhabi experience at the fancy Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Abu Dhabi.
Decadent delicious golden cappuccino ,
