Sanctuary Safari, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Our camp is simply incredible, — glamping is my style! After three airplane flights from Joberg, our Mackair Cessna was met by our guide and whisked off on our first game drive, and treated to cocktails on the Savannah at sunset while a huge bull elephant meandered by. Our guide, Zero, has taught us tracking tricks and also made delicious cocktails and coffee this morning in the wilderness. We’ve begun to appreciate the South African wines and a new delicious flavor Amarula and a great tonic brand, Fitch & Leedes.
Within the first 24 hours, we’ve been on two extensive excursions around the Okavango Delta Savannah. We’ve seen: Baboons, Zebras, Elephants, Cape Buffalos, Impalas, Gazelles, Lions, Hippopotamus, Wildebeests, Eagles, colorful birds, Warthogs, and Leopards. We witnessed three lionesses stalk and kill a buffalo calf, rip it apart and enjoy a feast. Gory but fascinating. Last evening, we admired two healthy leopards which had killed an impala earlier and were resting after gorging themselves. Such beautiful cats! The male’s affectionately called Stan!
