Kotor, Montenegro

Dubrovnik, Croatia

A very conversant guide led us on a terrific tour of old town Kotor, an ancient walled city, and some of our group climbed up the steep mountain framing the city, while some were treated to a bracing speedboat tour of the bay, circling around the legendary Our Lady of the Rock, and admiring the sparkling blue waters, quaint seaside villages, and ancient lore. Montenegro is a tale founded on the seafaring heroes, warring invaders, proud family lineage thru the centuries.

Kotor was occupied during WWII, but liberated by the Allies in 1944. Gratitude!

Off to Dubrovnik for two nights, we have seen a plethora of castles, churches, bell towers, stone walls, tiny restaurants, limestone steps, boats and thousands of tourists. Robin, Steve and Bill hiked the entire wall around the ancient city logging new records on their step counts. Lovely boutique hotel in Old Town with only 8 rooms, cozy lobby bar and Thai massages for the ladies! An exotic remedy for sore muscles.

Croatia’s Independence as a country came with a cost. Much of the damage from the bombing in 1991 has been rebuilt.

There were assorted interpretations for this statue…I think it involves temptation.

A rainy end to a fabulous trip, but didn’t dampen our spirits! On to Home via Frankfurt.
